Your body is made up of fast-twitch and slow-twitch muscle fibers; both requiring a different stimulus. The hamstrings for instance are primarily fast-twitch muscle fibers. You NEED heavy and explosive exercises to shape. And incase "shaping your hamstrings" doesn't sound significant, just remeber that the butt muscles are also effeceted when working the hamstrings. Heavy weights will make you look "bulky".

The Facts: Eating too much food will make you look bulky! Your muscles grow on calories so as long as you manage your calories, you'll manage your weight and shape. Again, the media has detoured your progress by having you believe that if you challenge yourself with moderately heavy weights, your body will take on a bulky and unfeminine appearance.

Women need to trust that building minimal amounts of lean muscle speeds your metabolism and burns fat. Muscle is what shapes your body!

Plus, most women don't produce enough testosterone to bulk up from a few gym sessions a week. God didn't intend women to look like men. In fact, most women produce 10-30 TIMES less testosterone than men and most men even have a hard time bulking up!

Higher-rep training (i.e. 8-12 reps and 13+ reps) results in "filling you out" through growth and an increase in such things as the sarcoplasm, mitochondria, and capillaries, which in turn yields a "softer" pumped look. Most females don't want that look where their muscles always look engorged with blood!
